Welcome to my “now page”. A “now page” tells you what this person is focused on at this point in their life. It’s in English because I submitted it to nownownow.com.
My name is Stephan Szillus. I have been living in Berlin, Germany, for the past 10 years, and my days currently evolve around my work for a digital streaming platform, reading and writing, hiking and meditating.
I am writing a blog (in German) as a public journal in the Stoic sense: These ancient philosophers wrote down daily reflections on what they learned from teachers, scriptures and experiences. I occupy myself with literature, art, philosophy and alternative lifestyles (financial independence, self-sufficiency, permaculture, the tiny house movement).
What I’m reading now: Jack Kornfield, “The Wise Heart. A Guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology” (2008)
What I’m listening to now: Prefab Sprout/Paddy McAloon, “I Trawl the Megahertz” (2003/Re-Issue 2019)
I don’t have any big plans or goals. In the morning and evening, I try to find something good to eat. In the time between, I am doing the work that has to be done.
